Broadway's Got Fleas!

Sally Ann Weather Lady is promising us a gorgeous day this Sunday. So what better way to enjoy it than at The 21st Annual BC/EFA Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction in Shubert Alley?? So much fun! This is the only flea market in the world where you can find those obscure cast albums that only your gay ass has ever heard of, original scripts, autographed posters, a lock of Hugh Jackman's chest hair, or a bottle of Elaine Stritch's Metamucil. You can even buy costume pieces from your favorite shows. In fact, right now I'm wearing the Norma Desmond turban I bought a few years back. Everyone just loves it!

My favorite part of the event is the Celebrity Autograph Table, which gives you the chance to chat up and scare the shit out of your favorite Broadway stars, pose for pictures with them, and have them autograph your posters, Cd's and underwear. Maybe even sit on Bernadette Peters' lap and tell her what you want for Christmas! Or sit on Cheyenne Jackson's lap and show him what you want for Christmas! It's fantastic! And this year promises as exciting a bunch as ever. Slated to participate are John Gallagher Jr., Jonathan Groff, and Lea Michele (Spring Awakening), Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone), Sir Ian McKellen (King Lear), Laura Bell Bundy and Orfeh (Legally Blonde), Kerry Butler (Xanadu), Brian Stokes Mitchell, Bebe Neuwirth, Anthony Rapp (Rent), Max Crumm and Laura Osnes (Grease), Christine Ebersole (Grey Gardens), and my friend Tituss Burgess (The Little Mermaid), to name only a few. (Click here for the complete guest list.) And I, personally, will be set up just a stone's throw away in the restroom of the Times Square Visitors Center, for those of you who would like my autograph.

The highlight of the Flea Market is the Grand Auction, at which you can win incredible items and opportunities, like a walk-on role in Jersey Boys, or the chance to stand with the musical conductor during a performance of Phantom of the Opera! Last year, I actually bid on and won a 2-year contract to replace LaChanze in The Color Purple. Because of scheduling conflicts on my end, I regretfully had to pass the torch to American Idol, Fantasia Barrino, who's doing a fine job in my stead, thankfully.

This year's auction features A DAY ON THE SET OF ALL MY CHILDREN, which includes Lunch in Pine Valley with Krystal Carey Chandler, played by the gorge Bobbie Eakes. (If you win, I implore you to use proper dining etiquette. These are not your slobby old friends we're talking about here. This is Daytime Royalty.) The package also includes Cd's, a script signed by the cast, and an All My Children goody bag! This is major. I mean, how do you think "La Lucci", Herself got her stiletto in the door over at AMC? Beauty? Talent? Ambition? I'm pretty sure she was the highest bidder at one of these auctions.

So, I hope to see everyone there this Sunday, September 23rd, with pocketbooks open and Sharpies in hand, ready to pay up and gay up for an amazing cause!
